The FDA had never approved the sale of Quinine for the treatment of leg cramps. With the exception of prescription drug Qualaquin, which is used for the treatment of malaria, the FDA has found Quinine to be unreasonably dangerous. Quinine is an extraordinarily dangerous drug. Its adverse reactions are numerous and several can cause death.

Reactions to Quinine can damage blood and organs:

excessive bleeding (Thrombocytopenia)

irregular heartbeat and heart attack

fatigue (from kidney or liver failure)

problems with urination (from kidney failure)

fainting and/or confusion

hearing loss or ringing in ears

vision loss, blurred vision or even blindness
